Kardy’s New “A” Green Christened

Kardinya Bowling Club christened its newly resurfaced “A” Green on Saturday 6 June with a maximum field of 56 players making a welcome return to competitive bowls action.

It was the first competitive hit out for players since the end of round 16 of the 2019/20 summer bowls season.

In true ceremonial style, club president Don Fitzgerald had the privilege of delivering the first bowl on the new Evergreen “ultra plus gold” synthetic surface.

As one would expect, the new green ran very truly at a speed of around 15-seconds for the afternoon, and it received an overwhelming “thumbs up” from all bowlers who were lucky to make the 28 team cut-off on Saturday.

This augurs well for a promising winter bowls season at Kardinya, a club that has little trouble attracting players from within and outside the club during winter.

Winners of Saturday’s pairs competition were Kardinya club mates Daryl Radford and John Terrell.
